Individual Private Therapy
CDSPS focuses on providing intervention for acquired communication and swallowing disorders associated with:
- Stroke
- Acquired brain injury
- Progressive neuro-muscular and muscular conditions
- Developmental disorders
- Intellectual impairment
CDSPS offers particular expertise in the management of:
- Facial weakness, asymmetry and pain
- Acquired velopharyngeal incompetency
- Dysphagia rehabilitation for community based people with tracheostomy
- Stroke
- MND
Management approaches include:
- BISSKIT Software for swallowing management
- PROMPT for motor speech impairment
- CPAP therapy to target velopharyngeal incompetence
- LSVT for voice disorders (e.g. Parkinson's Disease)
- Electrical stimulation for facial weakness, asymmetry and pain
- Cognitive-communication and language treatment for aphasia or other acquired or developmental communication difficulties
Intensive Group Programs
These programs may be arranged on demand for interested clients. Group programs will address people with:

- Pragmatic communication disorders, and
- Cognitive communication disorders associated with acquired brain injury or fronto-temporal dementia
Accent Modification Therapy
CDSPS can offer treatment to address accent modification. The number of required appointments will be determined during an assessment session and an agreement on prime treatment targets. This includes targeting areas (such as volume, pitch and sound production) that are likely to promote the greatest functional change. During initial assessment, we collaborate with you to develop outcome measures and a schedule for practice intensity that suits you.
